Just lost my job today!,and feel really sad, that this disease has now robbed me of my career aswell as everything else. People give the usual response well you knew what would happen. Yes I did but it doesn't make it easy Ive not only lost my career of 25 years I've lost a part of me another part. I hate this disease and wish it would go away it''s changing so quickly at work today I could'nt even get a coffee out of the machine someone did it for me which was very kind of them but after sat drinking my coffee I though just 8months ago I was running in here getting what I wanted to eat, and running back to continue working. Now I have no job and feel like I'm losing everything my collegues my securitie and the fact I can no longer say i'm a Nurse which is my title and I loved It I know some off you,out there are a lot worse off than me but forgive me had to sound off it's not fair!!!!!!

Comment by Lori on May 12, 2012 at 8:42pm I know the feeling. I just lost my job of 13 years. This disability does suck. As much as people think Im drunk. I wish I was. Then I could tell them all to go to Hell.

Comment by Eric on February 17, 2012 at 9:30pm Hi Lynne
I went through all this and really feel for you
My pysch suggested redefining your self, so when people ask what you do, then you have a great response
I do freelance creativity...... they ask what is that? yabba...yabba... yabba
Make a business card with contact details.
You can be anything you want.
Really gets away from the illness
Comment by Linda on February 6, 2012 at 12:55am Hi lynne i was a first year nursing student when my Ataxia robbed me of my dream of becoming a nurse. So i do understand what you are going through. So sorry big hugs from SA. I went on a computer course as sitting down was my only way forward. I have met some good friends on line, and a year ago i started Ataxia South Africa on facebook. Thinking of you Linda.
