Glad the snow has cleared, although someone told me more is forecast, hopefully it will only be light again and won't settle for long.
I couldn't remember whether pancake Tuesday was last Tuesday or next Tues but they were
selling the stuff in shop to make them so I got some stuff and made
them today (just in case I missed them tuesday.. lol) If its this
Tuesday coming, I'll have them again for lunch on Tuesday!
Gonna do a healthy veg stir-fry for tea with noodles, broccoli, carrots,
peppers and some chicken pieces pre-cooked in a chicken tikka paste.
I'm collecting more info on the new Apple iPad and its looking promising as a communication device. I am disappointed in the
Lightwriter and annoyed that when people are paying so much for these
devices they are not doing what the sales reps claim they can do. That
was £3,200 and its at cheaper end of market most are over £5,000.
It now only works as communication aid which I could have got the previous
model cheaper and it done the same! The Environmental control has
never worked and now text messaging wont as 02 company (who provided
SIm card in it) now dont class 'texting' as activity only voice calls.
I am finding ways to manage my Blackberry for longer just for texting, I'm trying to get hold of a pogo stylus (designed
for ipod touch) as apparently they also work with blackberry storm and
will work on the iPad too. They are very difficult to get in UK. I
just have to devise a weighted splint/holder to hold it with as they
are too small/thin for me to grip.
The weight is to help steady my hand as i get involuntary twitches when trying to do anything involving fine motor co-ordination. My right side is worst although I have been right handed all my life.
OT says it maybe that more damage towards left side of cerebellum which is
why my speech is badly affected (combined with been deaf nearly 25 yrs
this year). As you may know the opposite sides of brain controls each
side of body. so damage on left side will cause disability on right
side etc. Speech and hearing is only on left side though.
Sign language and visual-spatial skills (drawing, judging distances to fit
wheelchair in etc) are processed on right side and these are things I
can still do quite well.
Anyway so now I am learning to sign signature and draw with left hand as its steadier. My next
electric chair may have to have controls mounted on left but for now I
am managing by using right under arm as I dont want to make that arm
completely redundant and still use it for playing tennis etc on wii.
Talking about the Wii... time to work off those pancakes.. lol!
