Shamrock Rovers Football Club is extending its support to the Friedreichs Ataxia Society in Ireland. The Football Club has teamed up with businesspersons and entrepreneurs to collaborate and discuss business ideas and civic programs in the country. The Shamrock Rovers Business Club of Ireland is a unique business network because of its civic roles and goals of becoming one of the leading business forums throughout Dublin.
Enda Stevens, the football club’s left back, has suffered from the loss of his sister. Stevens’ sister has died several months ago due to Ataxia. Hence, the club has started an awareness campaign for the said disease. Gerry Stevens and Barbara Flynn, both members of the Fiedreichs Ataxia Society, will be conducting a several media interviews to the press, national and local radio and on TV3. The interview aims to raise awareness to the general condition of Ataxia sufferers. Moreover, Stevens and Flynn intend to raise funds that will be allotted for the care of the Ataxia patients and for the funding of research on Ataxia.
The Rovers team will contribute to this fundraising campaign by donating their appearance fees at the upcoming Spurs game. In addition, there will be a collection of funds held at the football ground on a particular match night. Lastly, there will be an auction to accumulate funds for the patients.
The auction consists of the following items: two match tickets for Rovers vs. Spurs, day training with the team for the preseason, autographed Spurs Jersey and an autographed Spurs ball. For all items, there is a €100 minimum bid. Those who are interested to participate in the auction may simply send an email to marklynch@shamrockrovers.ie. The bidder should submit his or her name, contact number and amount to bid at the email address stated. The auction will end on December 14 at 12 noon. The result of the bid will be updated and posted on the official website of Shamrock Rovers Business Club.
