I wonder how "typical" it is to have diplopia (i.e. double vision) as a symptom of ataxia. Anyone here? I always thought it was related to my brain (ex-) tumour, but ataxia...

I found this site some years ago and was astonished at its connection with ataxia (I was "shocked" by the Cognitive and Mood Problems, too).

I have terrible double-vision and terrible(er) coke bottle glasses! I didn't need glasses for it though, until my symptoms started presenting themselves.
Hi Anna
Yup I also have sporadic double vision for which London recommended Baclofen. Am on 30mg which does help. Also have nystagmus which makes me look even more attractive! Have you tried Baclofen?

Hi......yes I have constant double vision. Prisms in glasses help but the eye muscles eat them up..so hard to tell if my dizziness is from the ataxia or from the double vision.probably a double whammy!

Thanks for the link Anna.......i only wish my friends would understand what this disorder is like...they constantly badger me about not doing things with them as much as I use to.A few of my closer friends have said they've "given up" on me..not sure if that makes me more angry or sad.

oh and I'll be going for my sixth strabismus surgery for my eyes...I'll start the double vision cycle all over eventually but it will give me much better optical fusion for a few more years
